The world famous 4 Valleys or 4 Vallées, is the largest ski network in Switzerland and one of the largest in Europe. Linking the ski resorts of Thyon, Veysonnaz, Nendaz, La Tsoumaz, Verbier and Bruson, the 4 Valleys offers skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts the chance to experience some of the best skiing in the Alps. The ski domain has 92 lifts over a vast area of 412km and is a skiing and snowboarding paradise for families, beginners and expert thrill seekers who wish to experience the challenging and diverse off-piste skiing. The majestic Mont Fort at 3,300m is the highest point of the 4 Valleys with jaw-dropping 360-degree views of over twenty 4000m peaks, including the Mont Blanc and Matterhorn and one of the steepest mogul runs in the Alps. Aside from alpine skiing and snowboarding, the Four Valleys has lots to offer the winter sports enthusiast: a number of winter walks itineraries on well-marked routes, snowshoe walks out in the wilderness, sledging, tubing, ice-skating and cross country skiing! Summer in the Swiss Alps is equally breathtaking and with an average of 300 days of sunshine a year, this region of Switzerland has a wonderful climate. Stroll amongst the orchards in the valley and along the irrigation channel walks or "bisses" walks which wind around the mountain on a slight gradient or hike up the valleys to the high Alps. Enjoy the huge choice of mountain bike trails, especially the Tour de Mont-Fort , a 50km trail, ascending to 2,894m.
The ski resort of Nendaz, at the heart of the 4 Valleys, is well positioned for unparalleled access to all areas of the ski network from Thyon to Verbier and La Tszomaz. Given the "Families Welcome" status by the Swiss Tourist Board, Nendaz is a wonderful place to go on holiday in the summer or winter and caters for all ages. In the winter there are a number of ski schools and childcare facilities available, nursery slopes and easier ski runs for beginners and a more demanding ski runs for the accomplished family members. Nendaz is situated at 1,300m on a sunny plateau above Sion, the capital of the Swiss Canton of Valais, and has spectacular, panoramic views of the Rhone Valley and the Bernese, Valais and Vaud Alps. Nendaz has grown up around the centre of an traditional Valais village with its rustic old barns and houses and baroque chapel and is now a modern resort with a mixture of chalets, small hotels and apartments
