Hiking in the 4 Valleys

The hiking opportunities are endless!  Nendaz has 250km of marked walks ranging from 1-2 hour strolls or 7-8 hour testing hikes.  You can also tackle several day hikes and book into the mountain cabins, there are a number of itineraries here.

If you want to venture further afield in the Valais region, check out this site where you can search walks by criteria including: duration, altitude difference, difficulty and destination.

Family Walks and the famous Bisses

These are fabulous walks to take with the family, especially small children.  The walks are relatively flat without big changes in altitude.   Check out the various itineraries in Nendaz here.

Family Activities

For younger children there are a number of playgrounds in Nendaz and a climbing wall in the town centre for aspiring mountaineers!  Next to the climbing wall there is a volleyball court.  There are some fabulous zip lines, at the Domaine des Iles  where you can also go swimming in lake, play tennis and crazy golf.

Check out these suggestions for days out in Nendaz, the Valais and Italy and France.

Mountain Biking

Nendaz and the 4 Valleys offer diverse and challenging mountain biking routes.  Check out the itineraries here for Nendaz.  Other fabulous routes are the Mont Fort and Printse tours where you can take the easy rider routes or the more difficult pro rider trails.

The famous Grand Raid mountain bike race from Verbier to Evolène takes place every August.  The route follows the piste next to the chalet and it's lots of fun seeing the bikers speeding down the mountain.

Vineyard Tours

It would be a shame to visit the Valais region of Switzerland and not sample the local wines!  Take some time out to visit the many vineyards listed here.

There is also a wine hike which is open all year round, and runs along quiet tracks, passing by the wine-growers’ homes, through vineyards and the impressive Gorges de la Raspille, a site of outstanding natural beauty. 80 information boards are placed at intervals along the trail. They point out the features of the landscape, the different types of vines, the techniques and history of wine-growing. The wine trail runs from Sierre to Salgesch and links the two parts of the Valais Wine and Vine Museum, which provides guided tours in French, German and English on request.
